Atenoretic

Composition:

Each capsule contains:

Atenolol  50mg ,Hydrchlorothiazide 25mg ,Amiloride 2.5mg

Properties:

Atenolol is a selective B.blocker which binds to beta-adrenergic receptors in the heart, & other tissuesInterfering  with binding of adrenaline & nor adrenaline to beta adrenergic receptors so , it  Inhibits  sympathetic stimulation , finally it decreases cardiac output and rennin release and decreases blood pressure.

Hydrochlorothiazide(HCZ) is a diuretic which propagates kidney filtration of sodium and fluids decreasing blood volume ,cardiac output and blood pressure.

Amiloride is K .sparing diuretic which prevent the excessive K loss avoiding hypokalemia caused by HCZ.

Studies show thatthe combination ofhydrochlorothiazide and amiloride in theRatio of 10 : 1 is optimal to achieve theseeffects

Indications:

Atenretic is indicated in moderate to sever degrees of hypertension avoiding hypokalemia   caused by HCZ.

  • The effects of low potassium level can cause the following symptoms:
  1. Weakness & Fatigue, Muscle cramps & pain, Worsening diabetes & polyuria, Palpitations  (awareness heartbeats)

Dosages and administration:

1 capsule once daily

Package of 3 strips(each has 10 capsules).
